Full Itinerary

Day 0

Arrival Day

Upon arrival, you will be met by our staff and/or mountain guide and transferred to your lodge in Moshi. In the evening/morning depending on the schedule, you will attend a detailed pre-climb briefing, including route overview, altitude considerations, safety protocols, and a full gear inspection.

Day 1

Rongai Gate → Simba Cave Camp

After registration at Rongai Gate and lunch with your mountain crew, the trek begins through cultivated farmland and timber forest before entering the natural rainforest zone.

Altitude: 2,000 m → 2,650 m
Trekking Time: 2–3 hours

Day 2

Simba Cave Camp → Second Cave Camp

Continue toward Kibo Peak while enjoying magnificent views of Mawenzi. The trail passes through heath vegetation and open landscapes.

Altitude: 2,650 m → 3,450 m
Trekking Time: 3–4 hours

Day 3

Second Cave Camp → Kikelelwa Camp (Acclimatization Day)

The trail heads east through heath terrain with excellent views of Mawenzi Peak. Enjoy the scenery and shorter trekking day for improved acclimatization.

Day 4

Kikelelwa Camp → Mawenzi Tarn Hut

Ascend beneath the dramatic spires of Mawenzi Peak. Several acclimatization hikes above camp are available depending on weather and group conditions.

Accommodation: Mawenzi Tarn Hut

Day 5

Mawenzi Tarn Hut → Kibo Hut

Cross the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo through stark alpine desert terrain. Dinner is served early before the summit attempt.

Day 6

Kibo Hut → Uhuru Peak → Horombo Hut (Summit Day)

Summit push begins shortly after midnight. Reach Gilman’s Point before continuing along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak. Following summit celebrations, descend to Horombo Hut for overnight recovery.

Altitude: 4,750 m → 5,895 m → 3,950 m
Trekking Time: 10–14 hours total

Day 7

Horombo Hut → Marangu Gate → Moshi

Final descent through moorland and rainforest zones to Marangu Gate. Receive summit certificates before transfer back to your hotel.
