Kilimanjaro Wonders Hotel
Machame Gate → Machame Camp
Day 1

Machame Gate → Machame Camp

After breakfast, transfer to Machame Gate for registration before beginning the trek through dense montane rainforest. The trail is rich in biodiversity, with colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and exotic birdlife frequently observed along the route.

Altitude: 1,800 m → 2,980 m
Trekking Time: 5–7 hours
Habitat: Rainforest
Accommodation: Machame Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Machame Camp → Shira Cave Camp
Day 2

Machame Camp → Shira Cave Camp

The trail ascends steadily through heath and moorland terrain, passing giant heather and Erica vegetation. As the forest recedes, expansive views of the Shira Plateau and Western Breach begin to emerge.

Altitude: 2,980 m → 3,890 m
Trekking Time: 4–5 hours
Habitat: Moorland
Accommodation: Shira Cave Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks & Dinner

Shira Cave Camp → Lava Tower → Barranco Camp (Acclimatization Day)
Day 3

Shira Cave Camp → Lava Tower → Barranco Camp (Acclimatization Day)

A classic acclimatization day following the “climb high, sleep low” principle. The route ascends gradually across alpine desert terrain to Lava Tower before descending into the Great Barranco Valley, improving altitude adaptation and reducing AMS risk.

Altitude: 3,890 m → 4,600 m → 3,930 m
Trekking Time: 6–7 hours
Habitat: Alpine desert
Accommodation: Barranco Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks & Dinner

Barranco Camp → Karanga Camp (Acclimatization Day)
Day 4

Barranco Camp → Karanga Camp (Acclimatization Day)

Begin the day with the Barranco Wall scramble, a non-technical but exciting section of the route. Continue across ridges and valleys along Kilimanjaro’s southern slopes with continuous views of Kibo’s glaciers. The shorter trekking day supports further acclimatization.

Altitude: 3,930 m → 3,970 m
Trekking Time: 3–4 hours
Habitat: Alpine desert
Accommodation: Karanga Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks & Dinner

Karanga Camp → Barafu Camp
Day 5

Karanga Camp → Barafu Camp

A steady ascent leads to Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit attempt. The landscape becomes increasingly barren as altitude increases. Upon arrival, an early dinner and rest are essential in preparation for the midnight summit push.

Altitude: 3,970 m → 4,600 m
Trekking Time: 3–4 hours
Habitat: Alpine desert
Accommodation: Barafu Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Barafu Camp → Uhuru Peak → Millennium Camp (Summit Day)
Day 6

Barafu Camp → Uhuru Peak → Millennium Camp (Summit Day)

Summit push begins shortly after midnight. The ascent to Stella Point is steep and physically demanding, followed by a gradual approach along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating at the summit, descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing to Millennium Camp.

Altitude: 4,600 m → 5,895 m → 3,810 m
Trekking Time: 10–14 hours total
Habitat: Arctic zone, Alpine desert, Moorland
Accommodation: Millennium Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Millennium Camp → Mweka Gate → Moshi
Day 7

Millennium Camp → Mweka Gate → Moshi

Final descent through lush rainforest to Mweka Gate. Upon completion, receive summit certificates before transfer back to your hotel in Moshi for a well-deserved rest.

Altitude: 3,810 m → 1,640 m
Trekking Time: 3–4 hours
Habitat: Rainforest
Accommodation: Hotel in Moshi
Meals: Breakfast
