Meals: 3-4 hours

Kilimanjaro Wonders Hotel
Lemosho Gate and Trailhead → Forest Camp
Day 1

Lemosho Gate and Trailhead → Forest Camp

After breakfast, transfer to the Lemosho Gate for registration, then the trek begins through dense montane rainforest with high biodiversity—colobus monkeys and exotic birdlife are commonly observed.

  • Altitude: 2,100 m → 2,800 m
  • Trekking Time: 3–4 hours
  • Habitat: Rainforest
  • Accommodation: Forest Camp (Big Tree)
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Forest Camp → Shira I Camp
Day 2

Forest Camp → Shira I Camp

The trail gradually exits the rainforest into heath and moorland zones. The terrain opens, offering early views across the Shira Plateau.

  • Altitude: 2,800 m → 3,500 m
  • Trekking Time: 5–7 hours
  • Habitat: Moorland
  • Accommodation: Shira I Camp
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks & Dinner
Shira I Camp → Moir Camp
Day 3

Shira I Camp → Moir Camp

A steady ascent across the plateau into alpine desert. Optional acclimatization hikes above camp are strongly recommended to enhance altitude adaptation.

  • Altitude: 3,500 m → 4,200 m
  • Trekking Time: 5–6 hours
  • Habitat: Alpine desert
  • Accommodation: Moir Camp
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks & Dinner
Moir Camp → Lava Tower → Barranco Camp (Acclimatization Day)
Day 4

Moir Camp → Lava Tower → Barranco Camp (Acclimatization Day)

A classic “climb high, sleep low” day. You ascend to Lava Tower before descending into the Barranco Valley, improving acclimatization and reducing AMS risk.

  • Altitude: 4,200 m → 4,630 m → 3,950 m
  • Trekking Time: 6–7 hours
  • Habitat: Alpine desert
  • Accommodation: Barranco Camp
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks & Dinner
Barranco Camp → Karanga Camp
Day 5

Barranco Camp → Karanga Camp

Begin with the Barranco Wall scramble (non-technical), followed by undulating terrain across the southern slopes. This is a shorter day designed to support acclimatization.

  • Altitude: 3,950 m → 3,970 m
  • Trekking Time: 3–4 hours
  • Habitat: Alpine desert
  • Accommodation: Karanga Camp
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks & Dinner
Karanga Camp → Barafu Camp
Day 6

Karanga Camp → Barafu Camp

A steady ascent to base camp. Early dinner and rest are critical in preparation for the summit attempt.

  • Altitude: 3,970 m → 4,600 m
  • Trekking Time: 3–4 hours
  • Habitat: Alpine desert
  • Accommodation: Barafu Camp
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Barafu Camp → Uhuru Peak → Mweka Camp (Summit Day)
Day 7

Barafu Camp → Uhuru Peak → Mweka Camp (Summit Day)

Summit push begins around midnight. The ascent to Stella Point is steep and physically demanding, followed by a gradual approach to Uhuru Peak.

After summit, descend to Barafu for rest, then continue to Mweka Camp.

  • Altitude: 4,600 m → 5,895 m → 3,100 m
  • Trekking Time: 10–14 hours total
  • Habitat: Arctic zone, Alpine desert, Moorland
  • Accommodation: Mweka Camp
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Mweka Camp → Mweka Gate → Moshi
